I was reading the book Multiple Streams of Income and was just about to apply the concept of having 20% of your investments in Index funds over the long term in Indian context until I came across this article.

In short summary, Index funds are better for Developed Stock Markets than compared to Developing Stock Markets like that of India

For risk-taking investors, actively managed funds should occupy a larger share of the portfolio. Index funds can also occupy a smaller share, mainly from a diversification perspective.
